Who we are
We're a placement service built around one university's rules: United States University, at usuniversity.edu, whose main campus moved to Sandy Springs, Georgia in 2025. This site covers that school's catalog, handbooks, forms and deadlines and nothing else. Utah State University (usu.edu) is a separate school, and none of this applies to it.
We're an independent service, and nothing here speaks for the university. When you get in touch, the placement desk answers, and a placement advisor works through your program, course and state with you. Everything runs in writing, through the form and the chat, with replies by chat, text or email, so you keep a record of what was said and agreed.
Why a service built only for USU
USU's rules are specific enough that a generic list of clinicians misses. An FNP preceptor has to be a board-certified NP or a licensed MD or DO, at least 135 of your 540 hours have to be with an NP, inpatient hours never count, and FNP592 has to be family practice or primary care. Nurse Educator, Health Care Leadership, RN-to-BSN and DNP each bring their own preceptor or mentor rules.
The process is just as specific: three qualified preceptors named six months before each clinical course, USU's PAC model (Preceptor, Agreement, Compliance), Appendix H for every preceptor, and an OFE Approval Letter before a single hour counts. How we protect your hours and your approval
- Build every file for the Program Director and the OFE, who give the final approval on preceptors, sites and agreements.
- Plan your dates around USU's real timelines for Program Director review, the Affiliation Agreement and Complio, so the schedule holds up.
- Hand you a finished packet to send from your USU email, the route USU requires, so the record at USU is yours and complete.
- Collect the site coordinator's details so the OFE can send the Affiliation Agreement and run the legal review directly with the site.
- Aim every FNP search at in-person, outpatient settings USU counts, with hours starting only after your OFE Approval Letter.
When a request runs up against a USU rule, we say so plainly and show you the USU route that works. That protects your hours, and it protects the preceptor's relationship with USU too.
How we work alongside USU's process
Our quote and terms always come in writing before you commit to anything.
The catalog asks students who use a placement service to share USU's requirements with it. We start from USU's published handbooks, but your D2L course and your CPC have the current word, so pass on anything course-specific you're told. When USU's own documents disagree, as with four to six months versus 16 weeks for a new Affiliation Agreement, we plan to the earlier date and suggest you confirm with your CPC.

Is USU Preceptor part of United States University?
We're an independent service built around USU's process. USU's own placement office is the Office of Field Experience, and your Clinical Placement Coordinator is your USU contact. We work alongside that process, and USU approves every preceptor and site whether you found them yourself, through the OFE or with us.
Do you help Utah State University nursing students?
No. This site covers United States University (usuniversity.edu) only, and its forms, systems and rules are the ones described here. Utah State University (usu.edu) is a different school with its own clinical process, so nothing on these pages applies to its students.
Where does your information about USU come from?
From USU's own documents: the 2026-27 General Catalog, the FNP Clinical Handbook, the practicum and DNP handbooks and their appendices, and USU's state authorization disclosures. Each guide lists its sources. Where those documents conflict or say nothing, we tell you so and suggest checking with your CPC.
